"Herrgottssitz"

Am 16. Juni gingen die Schüler der NMS auf historischen Spuren wandern. Die Wanderung führte uns auf einem Rundweg von Schönau im Mühlkreis zum "Herrgottssitz", ein in etwa 6 m hoher Findling, der an der Oberfläche eine Sitzwölbung besitzt - daher rührt der Name.

Dieser Findling war zur Zeit der Hallstattkultur eine bedeutende Opferstätte. Der Ort Schönau i. M. wurde von einer Nebenlinie der Babenberger im 13 Jhdt. gegründet und befand sich auf der historischen Route des Jakobsweges zwischen Polen und Santiago de Compostela. Im 16 Jhdt. erwarb ein protestantischer Adeliger die naheliegende Burg Prandegg und baute die Region zu einer Hochburg des Protestantismus aus. Zur Zeit der Gegenreformation fanden beim "Herrgottssitz" geheime protestantische Gottesdienste statt.
